Doctor and his wife regularly invite a group of close friends for a weekend of partying at their farmhouse. When lights go out on one such occasion, and they hear a sound of a kiss followed by someone getting slapped, everyone is curious about who the perpetrators are. But it's only the beginning of a mystery.

Sonapur is a small village in modern day India that is being terrorized by a bandit named Zakali and his gang of 40 thieves. The villagers, young and old, even the Police, are all terrified. When a new Forest Officer is appointed, the villagers become bold, but Zakali soon forces them to change their minds and kills several people. Then an outcast village woodcutter, Alibaba, comes across Zakali's cave, which is located near Kali Pahadi, a valley that is still inhabited by prehistoric dinosaurs, uses the magic words 'Khul Ja Sim Sim', and finds untold wealth in it. He decides to take some and distribute it amongst the poor villagers. Razia, his estranged brother, Qasim's wife, finds out and compels Alibaba to tell her husband the location of the cave. Qasim goes there, grabs as much as he can hold, but is unable to remember the magic words to exit the cave. Shortly thereafter Zakali returns, slices Qasim's body in half and leaves.

A 3,000-year-old statue, stolen from an international museum, lands in Gujarat and falls into the hands of pickpockets Nagda and Pintu, who trade it to hotel owner Dhanraj to cover their food bill. When they discover that the government is offering a reward of ₹50,00,000 for the statue, they decide to steal it back from Dhanraj's mansion. Meanwhile, unemployed friends Raju and Santosh, dressed as policemen, arrive to steal jewelry. When the duo encounter Nagda and Pintu, they learn about the valuable statue and join the hunt.

A young girl finds comfort in play and slowly reconnects with her distant father after her mother walks out on the family.

Rajkumari Ophelia wants Devi Maa's statuette, which is located in Pratapgarh, recruits Sher Singh to carry out this task, and will marry him if he brings it to her. He sets out to do so, but before that could happen, Thakur takes it's possession, incurring Devi Maa's wrath, and he ends up losing his son. Fearing that the rest of the family will also perish on the day of the Khumbh Mela, he instructs his brother, Ranjeet, to ensure that the statuette is replaced in the Mandir, but Ranjeet is unable to do so, gets separated from his daughter, Meena, and becomes insane. Ramlal, who has the statuette, disappears; his wife gets separated from their son, Birju, while her brother-in-law, Mangal, is arrested and jailed for killing Rana, and she re-locates to live in Bombay with Mangal's son, Shekhar.

The main character, a forty-year-old doctor, tries to cope with situations that life throws at her as a successful dentist, but a less successful mother, lover, and ex-wife. The heroine's relationship with her daughter, lover, mother, and ex-husband is portrayed very convincingly and without the slightest idealization, reflecting the ambiguity and controversy of the contemporary female condition. Although the author accumulates in his novel and television script almost all the paradoxes of today's self-employed woman in the heroine, nevertheless (or precisely because of this) her story reflects the experience of most contemporary women. Especially those who place high demands on themselves and others, which, however, can rarely be met one hundred percent. And if it turns out that we owe the greatest debt to our own daughter, then it is no surprise that everything starts to change completely...

Circa the Mughal Rule in the Persian Gulf, a noble man asks his soldiers to bring a man trustworthy enough to commit a crime. The soldiers go to the Chor Bazar, where they find a beggar-cum-thief, Yusuf Ustad, and bring him before the noble man. The noble man asks Yusuf to abduct and kill the child, who will be the future king. Greedy Yusuf accepts the offer, but is unable to kill the cherubic child, and ends up abducting him, leaving evidence in blood to show that the child has been killed. The young prince is thus brought on to the streets of this Chor Bazar where he will grow up, and be destined to spend the rest of his life as a thief and beggar.

Orphaned at a young age, Neetu Singh lives a wealthy lifestyle in Raigadh in a palace which is presided over by her aunt, Rani Maa, and Neetu's paternal uncle, Rajan Singh. She travels and lives for a few years in Switzerland, then returns back to Bombay, India, and has a run-in with some slum-dwellers near Juhu. A few days later she is abducted by two men, who had initially claimed to be palace guards, and is rescued by a male named Raju Khan, a career thief and con-man, who was one of the slum dwellers in Juhu. She reaches Raigadh and shortly thereafter is shocked to find out that Raju is claiming to be the long-lost son of Rani Maa and her betrothed.
